NOTE: The following tips are what we have found to work for us in our 25+ years of internet marketing. What we have found to work for us may not necessarily work for you. Continuos experimentation with different ads and formulas is needed to develop successful ad campaigns.
1. Plain text vs. HTML : Choose plain text if you
will not be using colored text, graphics, etc. Plain
text ads are easy to setup and usually reach more
recipients, since HTML ads may trigger mail filters
and get blocked by some e-mail providers. When
submitting plain text ads, be sure to use complete
website addresses to be sure that they will be clickable
for the recipient. Example, use http://www.yourwebsiteaddress.com
and NOT www.yourwebsiteaddress.com or yourwebsiteaddress.com.
Be sure to include http:// at the beginning.
If you are experienced in creating great looking HTML ads with color and graphics, then that may be the way to go! |

2.Subject line : The subject line is very important since it is the first thing the recipient will see. If the subject line is ineffective and does not result in the recipient opening the e-mail, the rest of the ad is a waste. Using short, attention getting subject lines often work best. Testing different subject lines is very important. There are many helpful resources on the internet for creating great subject line. Just do a search for "best email subject lines examples".
3. Ad body : Here again we have found that using short, attention
getting ads works best for us. The purpose of the ad is to quickly
get the recipient excited and to click on the website address
in the ad. Some people prefer to use long drawn out e-mail ads.
Our feeling is that most people do not have the time, or will not
take the time to read longs ads. Get recipient to the website and
let the website do the selling!
In the ad body, be sure to include website addresses, e-mail addresses, and an other contact information you wish to make public, such as a phone number, name, mailing address, etc. Again, doing an internet search for "Email Ad Writing Tips" will bring up many great ad writing resources. |
